I agree with Romney on scholarships, but I disagree on having 'poverty meetings'. With Obama I like the idea of having struggling schools try new ideas, but I dislike the idea of throwing more money around. We're in enough debt in the USA as it is.
I think that Merit scholarships are a good idea, but in the end it will be the same smart middle class student recieving them. I think students would be willing to work harder in school if they knew they could still make it to college even if they weren't the best in their class.
Letting students know of the scholarships and aid they could receive early on in education could benefit students. I feel that many students do not realize that they can afford to go to college. Changing policies on higher education is not the total solution.
Having merit scholarships would help push some students to do better in school, but not all students are going to try harder because of the scholarships. The students in middle and upper class will still be the ones trying hardest to get the scholarships.
